Podium can now watch your telemetry for you. Set a rule on any channel, like engine temperature, oil pressure or RPM, and when the value crosses the line, Podium lets you know: the gauges change color, a popup appears, a sound plays, and your crew gets a note in Slack or Discord. There are two kinds. Device alerts run on Podium's servers for every live session, whether anyone is watching or not. Dashboard alerts live in your dashboard and react while you have it open.
Device alerts never stop watching
Device alerts belong to the car. Open it on My Devices and press Add alert under Alerts.
Pick a channel and a range. An alert can fire when the value is at least a number, at most a number, or between two. Choose how long the value has to stay there before the alert fires, so a single spike does not set it off, and how long it has to stay out before it clears.
Then choose what happens. Color the channel's gauges, show a popup on the dashboard, play a sound of your own (any MP3 up to 500 KB), record it in the session's alert log, and post a note to Slack or Discord.
The alert compares the values the way your device records them, so set a speed threshold in the unit your logger sends.
It fires live, for everyone watching
Device alerts run on Podium's servers, on every live session the car streams. As the engine passes 220, the gauge turns red on every dashboard watching the session, the popup appears, and your sound plays for you and your team. The line chart shades the stretch the alert covers, so you can see when it started and how long it lasted.
Dismiss the popup and it stays away until the alert clears and fires again. Someone who opens the session in the middle of an alert sees it straight away.
Every alert is logged, and your crew gets a note
The session's Alerts tab keeps the log: when each alert fired, the value that tripped it, how long it lasted, and whether its note went out.
Notes go to the Slack or Discord channel you choose. Paste the channel's incoming webhook address into the rule. Each note names the rule, the reading, the car and the event, and links straight to the session. A second note says when the alert cleared and how long it lasted. The device page shows when each rule last sent a note, and the reason if it could not.
Logging and notes happen whether or not anyone has a dashboard open. Leave the car running on a test day and the log, and your phone, still tell you when the engine got hot. In Analysis, logged alerts are shaded on the laps you pick too.
Dashboard alerts watch with you
Dashboard alerts are part of a dashboard. Unlock the dashboard, open a gauge's menu and choose Alerts, or open Alerts from the dashboard's settings. A rule is set per channel, so one rule colors every gauge and chart showing that channel. Pick the range, a color, and a popup or a sound, and save the dashboard to keep the rule with it.
Dashboard alerts work only while that dashboard is open on your screen, and nothing is logged or sent. That makes them right for the cues only you need in the moment, like an early warning before the real limit. Here the warning shows first, in yellow. When the device alert fires on the same channel, it takes over in red.
Plans
Every device gets one device alert free. Podium Pro gets ten per device. Dashboard alerts are free on every plan, with no limit.
Try it now
Open your car on My Devices and add your first alert under Alerts. If you already have a Podium account, a short video tour appears on the home page the next time you visit, and you can watch it again under Tutorials.
